What has changed in ABD’s Continuing Certification Program?

What has changed in ABD’s Continuing Certification Program?

Changes primarily affect CertLink, the ABD’s online assessment activity. Here’s what is new:

  • Active CertLink participation is now required of all dermatologists in Continuing Certification.

  • After four years of active CertLink participation, the ABD will calculate the diplomate’s cumulative score to ensure the passing standard has been met.

  • If the standard has been met, the diplomate may take a “CertLink Holiday” for the duration of the fifth year. A new CertLink assessment period will begin in the sixth year.

  • If the passing standard has not been met by the end of Year 4, then the diplomate must take a Catch-Up Exam in Year 5.

  • There are no longer stand-alone CME and self-assessment requirements for Continuing Certification. Diplomates earn CME credits by participating in CertLink.
